You set out to rake piles of leaves,

but travel fatigue insists

that isn’t necessary for now,

now is for enjoying

the accidental piles of leaves

where wind-blown they have fallen

or come to rest.


Maybe you too will come to rest

when travel fatigue leaves you

to take possession of yourself again

in this forever-now,

the appreciation of sunlight

renewing garden decline

in November.
